What is the Net View command for linux?

Q. I have been playing around with Linux a lot lately. What is the linux net view equivalent? I can't figure it out for the life of me.

A. If you are talking about a TCP/IP Networks you have a bunch of commands that can act like Netview:

users
groups - Print group names a user is in
hostname - Print or set system name
id - Print user and group id's
logname - Print current login name
printenv - Print environment variables.
uname - Print system information
who - Print who is currently logged in
whoami - Print the current user id and name (`id -un')
who

Now, if you want a command to see network share devices in a MS-Network you should use Samba.

I hope this help you.

How do i connect to a proxy in linux?
Q. I have a laptop with linux mint 12 installed and i took it to school, but when i tried to connect to the internet there i realized i had a lot of fields to put my proxy information in.
I have 4 fields:http, https, ftp, socket host.
In windows and mac i only have one field so i was more than a bit confused.
My proxy info is (http://)proxy.rvk.borg and the port is 8080.
Also, when playing games in linux i get strange graphics glitches that are basically a smear of solid colour over parts of the screen, these dont affect performance.
If its important for either of these, my computer is a 2010 macbook and linux is the only os currently installed on it.
